The traffic problem around St Andrews School is a source of concern for all. However, following a series of near accidents, this initiative has been organised by concerned parents, governors and staff at St. Andrews school to promote a better understanding of the problems. Whilst we continue to work with the Council to make changes to our highways, we would welcome your suggestions, support & feedback and hope that you will join us in embracing our biggest individual challenge:

Parking in the lay-by to walk your child into school in the mornings
If you want to walk your children into school, please park on St. Andrews Road or on the common land by the Westra and walk. The main aim is to keep traffic moving!
Blocking the entrance to the lay-by (even to let your children out!)
We have to keep the traffic moving in the mornings! Even if it means waiting a few seconds, avoid dropping off your children in the first quarter of the lay-by if it stops other cars from coming in behind you.
Parking on St Andrews Road by the corner of the exit to the lay-by
It is not only illegal, it is also very dangerous to park here. It obstructs access and forces cars into the path of oncoming traffic. Please park legally on St. Andrews Road or on the common land by the Westra.
Parking on the double yellow lines by the junction leading to the Westra
It is not only illegal, it is also very dangerous to park here. Pedestrians cross by this T-junction to reach the common land. Access to the Westra is also completely blocked.
Driving too fast
The current speed limit is 30 mph and attempts are being made to extend a new 20 mph speed limit planned for the village to St Andrews Road. Think of the pedestrians! Think of the children!! Please drop your speed.
Parking in the staff car park
Parking in the staff car park is only permitted for members of staff and deliveries.
Parking along the access to Bryneithin
Our neighbours at Bryneithin often need ambulance access. Please don’t park anywhere along ths private road, particularly as this is an important pedestrian crossing point.
