Our Easter Experience!
On Thursday 2nd April, staff and children at St Andrews Major Church in Wales Primary School shared in an Easter Experience in the school grounds around our 150th anniversary Faith Garden. The warm sunny weather of the previous few days, gave way to chilly, cloudy weather but it wasn’t raining so it did not deter us from an unforgettable Easter celebration in procession, readings, reflection, music, symbols and prayer.
The outdoor worship was led by the Rector, staff and children and told the events of the Easter story from Palm Sunday to the Resurrection in a multi sensory way.
Younger children waved palms, placed pebbles with their hopes and dreams and modelled comfort objects from plasticine to put in the Garden of Gethsemane. Older children symbolised the washing of the disciples’ feet, shared bread in the Last Supper and remembered those who suffered as Jesus did on the cross.
The final celebration of the Resurrection with the empty tomb was celebrated with singing and dancing. Each child and adult present received a small chocolate Easter egg to symbolise new life and hope for the future.
We were joined by parents, grandparents and friends from the parish and they were all glad to warm up afterwards with a hot cup of coffee!
In the Summer Term, our 150th celebrations continue with our Drama production in July – two evening performances that are not to be missed! Look out for details.
