Karen Lewis (teacher governor)
Karen is the year 2 teacher at St Andrews and has been at the school since September 2000. Her first role was to set up and open the Nursery unit where she taught for two years. She then moved to Year 2 for four years, after that Year 4 for two years and finally back in Year 2 for a second year. Karen travelled and lived in Denmark and Belgium as a child and in her early 20's lived and worked in South Africa. She then returned to Barry where she met and married Colin in 1986 and had two children, James and Aimee. The latest addition to her family is her darling grand daughter Eloise.
When Karen's children started school she returned to college and trained as a Nursery Nurse and then went on to UWIC and spent the next 3 years working towards a BA in Education. In 1997 her children nominated her for SWALEC Supermum of the year, which she won thanks to the wonderful things they wrote about her - thats her claim to fame! Karen loves music especially from the 1970's and spends most of her spare time listening to it whilst running a very busy family home. As far as hobbies go, reading has got to top the list but is mainly a luxury saved for holidays from school.
Sophie Mutton (parent governor)
Sophie works at the BBC as a TV Designer, this takes up a lot of her time but she is lucky enough to enjoy her job, the rest is shared between three children, the governing body and long suffering partner, Paul, who covers in her absence whenever necessary. She attended De Montfort University where she studied a BA honours degree in animation, this started her on her career path, which has always been in the media and for 3 years she co-presented a radio show, during which time she interviewed stars such as Pavarotti ...... as well as many other people you and she have never heard of.
Sophie has recently taken up tennis again and is loving it.
Sophie is originally from Gloucestershire, and settled in Wales 19 years ago, and feels very Welsh, except where rugby is concerned. She stumbled across Dinas when she and Paul where looking for another house project to take on, not to stay, 12 years later they are still doing DIY and can't see themselves leaving.

Sharon plays an active role in St.Andrews PTA through which she has made many friends, has enjoyed participating in their fundraising events, and has subsequently spent far too many hours bidding on websites for bargains to sell at them! Outside of work, school, and family life, time does not currently allow for many hobbies, however Sharon dreams of one day returning to New Zealand, travelling around in a camper van and illustrating books for a living !!
